2025 Brings about new operations structure
The new year brought a restructuring of operations at AFS with the vision of CEO David Lidz being realized creating a new system of ownership and accountability.
Under the new system, construction of homes are individually managed by Project Leaders rather than solely Ops Director Ty Brown. “Shifting our operations processes and systems to a decentralized mode gives the Project Leaders front line power to decide how their projects should run.” This new job system allows for workers to have greater control over projects, but also gain more experience in project management. Project Leaders determine their own timelines, hiring, and materials as opposed to a central person.
The cooperative is currently developing new internal tools that will help with this process. To help with this effort we’ve recently hired Randy McFerrin and Miguel Melendez. These two are working to help develop the systems that will allow for greater efficiency, transparency, and automation of certain processes. “We’ve been working with several members of the AFS team to develop new tools for project leaders, so they can feel more empowered and continue gaining knowledge. It’s been an amazing experience, and I’m looking forward to continuing it.” said Mendelez.
